FAQs
Planning a culinary retreat can raise lots of practical questions
To make things easier, I’ve gathered the ones I’m asked most often, along with clear answers. My goal is to help you feel confident, excited, and fully prepared before you book. If there’s something you’d like to know that isn’t covered here, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
1. What is included in the price?
My retreats are designed to be all-inclusive once you arrive. Prices cover your accommodation, daily breakfasts and dinners, all cooking sessions and food tastings, excursions listed in the itinerary, and transfers between scheduled activities. Flights and travel insurance are not included, giving you the flexibility to arrange your journey your way.
2. Do I need to be an experienced cook?
Not at all. Retreat guests range from complete beginners to passionate home cooks. Sessions are hands-on, relaxed, and tailored to all levels. You’ll leave with new skills, recipes, and confidence — but above all, with the joy of cooking and sharing meals together.
3. Can I come alone?
Absolutely. Many guests are solo travellers, and retreats are designed to feel welcoming and inclusive from the first day. Shared meals, cooking, and excursions make it easy to connect. You’ll never feel alone unless you want quiet time for yourself.
4. What is the group size?
Retreats are kept intentionally small, usually between 10 and 14 participants depending on the venue. This ensures plenty of personal attention and a genuine community feel.
5. What kind of accommodation will I have?
I choose boutique villas and hotels with character, comfort, and a sense of place. Bedrooms are spacious, air-conditioned, and en-suite where possible. You can book single occupancy (for privacy) or share with a friend/partner.
6. How active is the retreat?
There’s walking on excursions (e.g., markets, vineyards, or cultural visits) but nothing too strenuous. You always have the option to rest if you prefer to skip an activity.
7. I have dietary restrictions. Can you cater for me?
Yes. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or allergies — just let me know in advance, and I’ll adapt meals accordingly. Since local ingredients are central to the retreat, we’ll always be honest about what is possible at each location.
8. What about flights and transfers?
Flights are not included. Transfers from and to local airports are either included or easy to arrange, and we’ll give you full instructions once you book.
9. What should I pack?
I will send you a detailed packing list once you reserve your place. Essentials include comfortable clothing, shoes for excursions, and light layers for evenings. Cooking aprons and equipment are provided.
10. What is the booking and payment process?
To secure your place, a deposit (usually 25%) must be received at the time of registering with the balance due 8 weeks before departure. Payments can be made by bank transfer. Once booked, you’ll receive confirmation, itinerary details, and preparation notes.
11. What if I need to cancel?
Life happens. The cancellation policy is clear and fair — full details are in our Terms & Conditions. Comprehensive travel insurance is required from the moment you book, which protects you if you need to cancel for medical or personal reasons.
12. Are retreats suitable for couples or friends?
Yes — pairs or groups of friends as are family members are always welcome. Couples can enjoy plenty of shared experiences while also finding quiet moments for themselves.
13. What makes your retreats different?
They’re led personally by me, Irini, MasterChef UK champion, olive oil & honey sommelier, and passionate Greek cook. Every retreat is built around authentic food culture, personal stories, and connections with local artisans. My passion is creating immersive, curated experiences.
